Checker fabrics
Checked fabrics have a recognisable pattern of alternating blocks. These graphic prints give handmade clothing a distinctive look.
From an accent to a complete outfit
Use a checked print for a whole garment or a detail such as a pocket, sleeve or panel. Check the pattern’s direction and scale when cutting. If you want to match the blocks at seams, allow for this when calculating how much fabric you need.
Pair checks with plain fabrics
A plain fabric in a colour from the print creates a coordinated look. A contrasting colour makes the combination bolder. Different prints can also work together when you play with colour and scale.
Check which fabric type suits your pattern for each product. Order our fabrics in 10 cm increments, from 50 cm.
What is a checked print?
A checked print consists of alternating coloured blocks. The effect varies with the block size and colour combination, from subtle and graphic to bold and playful. Check each fabric’s photos to assess the scale of the blocks.
