I made two incredibly fun sweaters for my daughters — totally in Rebel style, of course! I used our own French Terry and matching ribbing fabrics and combined them with a colorful 30 mm entredeux embroidery trim. This trim is beautifully finished on both sides, making it perfect for this DIY. For a sweater in size 122, I needed 2 meters of trim — more than enough for five bows.
✂️ Step 1 – The base of the bows
Cut five pieces of trim, each 25 cm long. Lay them out as shown in the first photo, pinch them together as in photo 2, and stitch them in place (see photo 3). It’s a bit fiddly, but the result is worth it!
🧵 Step 2 – Making the center piece![]()
To finish the bows, cut five small pieces of about 5 cm. Fold the embroidery trim into thirds (see photos 1 and 2) and wrap the small piece around the center of the bow. Let the ends overlap slightly and trim off the excess so it doesn't get too bulky. Stitch it in place as shown in photo 4.

📍 Step 3 – Positioning the bows on the sweater
Finish all five bows and place them on the sweater where you want them to be. Use a temporary fabric glue (such as the Prym Glue Pen) to secure them in place. This will keep them neatly in position while sewing.
🪡 Step 4 – Sewing them on
Sew all the bows firmly in place as shown in photo 1. Then, secure the bows and any loose ends once more with the glue pen and stitch over them as well. Finally, trim all loose threads neatly.
🌈 And your sweater is finished!
I made two different versions — and both daughters are absolutely thrilled with them! 💕 A cheerful project that is easy to make and instantly adds that typical Rebel Studio touch.
